Types of Therapy

Sports Muscular Therapy is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. These are the types of therapy we practice at Web's Wellness:

  • Muscle Release Technique

  • Myofascial Release

  • Trigger Point

  • Swedish Massage

Muscle Release Technique

Muscle Release Technique℠ is a style of bodywork developed by Michael Young, a massage therapist who focuses on injuries, especially injuries caused by repetitive strain. Muscle Release Technique℠ is designed to supplement a physical therapy program, and can be utilized for people with a wide range of problems.

Issues this treatment heals:

  • Acute + Chronic Muscle Plan
  • Sports Injuries
  • Repetitive Stress Injuries
  • Headaches + Migraines

Myofascial Release

The fascial system forms a continuous web throughout the body. Injury to any part of the system can have far-reaching effects on other parts of the body. This is a gentle form of therapy that produces profound effects throughout the body. A basic tenet of Myofascial Release is that no part of the body is separate from the other.

Issues this treatment heals:

  • Addresses issues in connective (fascia) tissues
  • Pain in the body resulting from injuries, repetitive stress situations, traumatic scarring and abnormal posture

Trigger Point

A Trigger Point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may trigger pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache.  Trigger point treatment is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release

Issues this treatment heals:

  • Pain commonly thought to be arthritis
  • Unexplained pain in certain body areas
  • Dull body aches

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the most well-known massage technique. It is a gentle system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation.

Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body.  Swedish Massage utilizes a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements.

Issues this treatment heals:

  • General muscle soreness
  • Circulation issues
  • Mental Stress + Anxiety
